The next in the Meme-ory series was something very close to me that we discovered in the late 2000’s. As our love for Earthbound grew and we had (just) finish beating and enjoying Mother 3 we were able to add those game to things we found interesting when recreated in the NicoNicoDouga Sphere. Then we heard it a song known as Kaze ni Asobarete, sung by Aki Okui for the ending of a 90’s anime known as Mahoujin GuruGuru. The video was uploaded by a now deleted Youtube user known as yuguru3.
We attribute our initial love of Japanese music to Inuyasha as it ran for seemingly a decade since we were a pre-teen and we fell in love with each of the ending with Fukai Mori, Dearest and My Will being top favs. However, this was one of the few anime we never actually watched but capitivated us with its music match with an artist’s interpretation of the Mother series in place of Mahoujin GuruGuru itself. This caused us to also fall in move with Aki’s music video as well as the original ED.
The youthful optimism of the song with the Mother character trekking forward in the face of adversity struck a massive chord with us and we often listen to the song and every year or so we return to NicoNico to go dowwn the rabbit hole.
In the next Meme-ory, we switch from the captivatingly creative to somethi…BALLIN!
…I guess it’s time to talk about him huh?

Original Music Video
The original anime ending. Couldn’t find the TV Edit so this one was slowed down to match the length of the full song.
Our terrible attempt to add romaji subbed to the music video back in Decemeber of 2008. Dec.15.2008 to be exact. We beleive around this time we were just trying to solidify our recently learnt kana.
