Before we get into our fun little memory, this was around the time that we moved out of our grandmother’s house with our dad and move to Mesquite with our step-mother, brothers and sister with another little sister on the way.
During this time we were you average pre-teen, playing video-games and watching cartoons with my new siblings. But when we weren’t secretly watching or recording Sailor Moon or Magical Doremi, we’d always tune into Cartoon Network and G4 as our go-to channel with other channels like Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Discovery and Animal Planet following right behind.
It was around this time Cartoon Network had an afternoon block known as Meguzi would air many of our afternoon favorites but two of them stood out; Totally Spies which was on par with Sailor Moon & Magical DoReMi in the sense of being too embarrassed to watch it around other and the other one being the focus of this post; Code Lyoko.
When we weren’t playing Mario Kart DS with the younger Ken and our little sister Dory, we were watching and playing along with the characters of Code Lyoko.
We were Odd, jumping around the room and throwing things at the others as our Laser Arrows. Ken was Ulrich and was blocking our’s and Dory’s projections with his sword and dodging with his superspeed. Dory was Aelita, throwing her enegy projectile and always have a barrier to protect her incoming attacks. From time to time I’d remember that Odd had a future sight power that wasn’t used frequently but it was our only defensive tool.
Being young kids, we’d get carried away and ended up making a mess of the dining room and sometime breaking things. When that happen we really wish we could “return to the past” to fix it before our parents got home.
We would continue to watch the show during the following years and Dory would even get the game on Wii after we moved back in with our grandmother. However around this time was when the show either stopped airing or we were were all moving on but those were some fun afternoon in front of the big screen TV.
This is our first proper post since moving to Japan and we will think to come back and revamp it and add more detail once we have our own place and Prysm 2.0 is back up and running.
This is also our first post regarding the things we spoke about writing about in our anniversary post. Here hoping we will follow through and complete those post before the 2nd anniversary where we will have a new list of memories and idea to add to the site. Well, until next time.
