While brainstorming idea we once again got ahead of ourselve and wrote down how our Heroes would meet their match and die. This would force the remainder of Derrick’s team to finish the fight but that all would have mostly been wiped out too. We want to say this was composed in 2009 and we only change the transciption due to poor grammar. The original scan can also be founded below.
This writing spree was inspired by an anime we had recently watched or had just finished known as Bokurano. The anime followed a group of kid who would come to pilot a mecha known as Zearth. Other Zearth-like mecha would invade in a attempt to destroy their core. Doing so would doom their earth to be destroyed while the victor would die as Zearth required the life-force of its pilot. The anime explore how the kids coped with their inpending death.
The only thing both have in common is it showed how they were push to the brink prior to their death and how they coped knowing this was potentially their final fight. Instead of ordering them based on when they were introduced, they are ordered based on when they died with Ryon(Ryune in v4) being the first.
Unfortunately, despite not dying in order of introduction, we wrote their deaths in that order and seem to have stop about 75% of the way through Surtus with the silver lining being that we scribble down Drayne/Esuna’s prior to that. As a result Drayne & Esuna are more combined and condensed and sadly we never got around to Drenee. We will note when we speculate on what we thought we had in mind for them in full like the others but it’s not as in stone as Ryon through Surtus.

Ryon:
While confronting the Shaoxians with his team, he eventually had to use his CrystaBreak. As the fight drew out, he sacrificed all his energy as well as his Florayne Staff to heal his Allies. Now powerless, he protected his fellow Heroes without his Crystal. Now fed up , the Shao overwhelmed Ryon with a flame that completely seared his body. Now the Shao aimed for his team, all of which were enraged and empassioned. The Shao then bursted down the other 7, attempting to kill them. However Ryon was temperarily reborn and called forth his Life Zulement. Ryon severely weaken the Shao and healed his allies yet again.Unfortunately, all that remained afterward was Ryon’s dry & powerless Florayne Staff. Ryon’s last wish was for Sena to hold on to it while he left his Crystal with Alex.
Esuna & Drayne:
After Ryon’s death, they returned to challenge Sheldon with a better strategy. They managed to defeat Sheldon for the moment only to encounter the ShaOverlord/Shao-Overlord again. In this fatal fight Drayne dies protecting Esuna. Her sorrow feuled her anger as she attempted to use a new but dangerous Zulement. She was covered in blood and crying. Bruised with tears flowing from her cheeks she unleashed her attack but was killed by the ShaOverlord/Shao-Overlord. As she collapsed over Drayne dead, they noticed that their Elementz were of the Negative category(Vice Alignment in v4). He resurrected them as unquestioning warriors using their Shao energy. Now only a team of 5; Alex, Sena and Drenee were in despair as the Tsujiro’s supported them.
Later Drayne Crystal & weapon would be recovered and went on to be used by Drenee. The same would be the case with Esuna’s however Sena thought it best that Alex hold on to her weapon while she held on to her sister’s Crystal.
Sam & Lucy:
As for the Rivals, Sam and Lucy spotted Drayne and Esuna and followed them to the top of Mt. Mares(possible Mt. Ludistradoss now). They saved Drayne and Esuna as Lucy struck the ShaOverlord/Shao-Overlord with a gale but he reverse it and infused it with Shao energy. Acting selflessly, she encases Drayne’s, Esuna’s and Sam’s feet in stone but was too weak to protect herself as she was blown off of the mountaintop and fell over 900ft to her death in the rocky water below. Mad, Sam took the lead and went into his PermaCicle Form(Transcendence in v4) but even his strongest Elemental attack did nothing and the ShaOverlord/Shao-Overlord punched Sam’s core, shattering him into dust, killing him.
NOTE: They were the only Rivals we wrote a proposed demises for and it intertwine with Drayne & Esuna’s demise so it will be noted here.
Whittney/Wren:
She remembered what Ryon did and vowed to make the Shaoxian pay for their evil. She knew that without Esuna or Drayne, Sena was their primarily tactician. After training with her brother, she confronted the vessel that controlled Esuna & Drayne’s bodies. She remembered that Sena told her that her sister and Drayne no longer exist on this planet. They then attacked her with their Shao energies. She still hesitated and was hit hard. She wasn’t one to show emotion but fighting them like this was unsettling for her. She transformed and challenged them. As they fought more recklessly, she became more confident. It wasn’t long after Surtus showed up to help her. Ther’re tandem was so strong they acted as extensions of one another. It was hard but they forced Esuna’s & Drayne’s bodies to retreat as the Shao began to take its true forme. Afterwards, Surtus was knocked out of the fight & forced to watch. The creature’s true form overwhelm Whittney, bringing out her weaker side. She knew she need more than her Gekido, she started to surge with energy & activated her Aura Zulement. Since it showed her true self, she looked alot more feminine. Surtus cautioned her not to use all of her life energy as he sought help for her. The fight was brutal but Whittney used the things she learned from Surtus & her family to push the enemy to their limit. Eventually, she turn into the embodiment of fire(Transcendence) to burst her foe. Surtus watched her life energy deplete and hoped she wouldn’t die. The rest of the team made it as Whittney finished the creature off. “Uh, it’s finally over'”, she sighed as she floated in front of them. Whittney stared at Surtus them told the team, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. I just need to cool down.”. As she powered down, she let off a huge amount of steam while still exuding her Zulement. Surtus begged her not to leave as he reached for her hand, but just as they were about to grab each others hand, she petrified and turned to dust. She left Surtus her Hammer and Crystal.
Drenee:
Speculative Idea: The often whimsical Drenee has been shaken by the recent turn of event as she never truly felt like her and her allies would overcome the Shao together. Even with her friends by her side, Drenee is distraught without her brother there, her inability to connect to his spirit, and how the Shao defile her brother’s remains. The only solace she had beside the other was his Crystal and his Sycthe. Scolding herself like her brother would, she realize how much she grown & matured since meeting the others. With this resolve she spoke with Sena & Surtus about how they are handling their loss, both of which were still getting over it but knew they had to see their mission through. In the following days, she had finally had enough of her brothers body being used and wanted to lay it and Esuna’s to rest. So against her comradery-centric nature, she went after both by herself knowing she was throwing herself into danger. She locked on to their signature and evenutually encountered them together which she had to steel herself against. Eventually a fight broke out but now Drenee was having doubt, it was made harder by staring at her ally Esuna and more heartbreakingly, her brother. She has a somewhat good start but was easily overwhelm by both of them. Just and they were about to strike her down, Sena and Alex appeared before her to help take on Esuna and Surtus delivered an electricifying kick followed by a flaming punch to Drayne which gave him and Drenee some space to recoup. This was gonna be hard for the four but they knew it had to be done. Both sides were taking considerable damage but the Heroes mentality was also being hurt. Eventually Esuna overcame her sister with her Darkness & Alex with Celestial knocking them out of the fight. Drayne slice into Surtus critically wounding him but before Drayne could finish him off Drenee pulled him back and took his place. At this point, Drenee was truly hard-broken and was going to see this through no matter what. Though unconscious, Sena was able reach out as ask what their weakness were and passed that info on to Drenee. In that moment Drenee ask her allies to fogive her as she burnt her life energy to use the Spirit Zulement and split herself into two; one wielding her brother Elementz/weapon and the other her own. Each Drenee kepy switching between the two, wearing them down while also being aware of her dwindling life. Both of her spirits worked together and were able to fatally strike Esuna body, freeing her body of its cursed fate. Esuna looked at peace as she was able to fade into the starry sky. Drenee finally had a long fight with her brother and came to terms with freeing him like she did with Esuna. In this fight, Drayne steadfastness was test by his sisters link to those she care and learnt from. Eventually Drenee using all she had to impale Drayne from behind with his ghastly sycthe and with her ghastly Glaive from the front. In implaing her brother, she also impaled her two half with the same blades linking the three with Drayne in the middle. As sad expression overcomes Drayne’s face, he let Drenee know that he’s always cared for her and was happy to see her be herself. With this, he was glad to meet his end by his twin…his “other half”. Shortly afterwards, his soul was completely freed and dissipates. Shortly afterward Drenee’s weapons also fade. When the rest of the team came to they are confront by Drenee two spirits. The sycthe-wielding spirit channeled Esuna & Drayne’s essense in which they thanked everyone for freeing their bodies from the Shao. As their voiced faded, that Drenee wrapped her arms around the Glaive -wielding Drenee. She thanked everybody for their help and she going to where the other are. She told them to stay strong, not only for themselve and us, but for the planet they are protecting. Shortly afterwards, she faded into the ether leaving behind both of the Mutorii’s Crystals/weapons.
Surtus:
Shortly are Whittney’s death, Surtus devotes all of his time training with Orrae & Byuko since his/their grandparents had to maintain the Veil over Earth. After intense physical & Elemental training, his ability to generate and regenerate Eletricity immensely increased. He felt like his sister was always with him and coercing him to get better. Thus he could use ThunderVolt in longer bursts; from about 10 mintues of use with a recharge time of about 3 mintutes to about 2 hours of use with a recharge time of roughly 10-20 minutes. It wasn’t long afterwards that the Shao went active as Alex was surveying the area via flight. He was hit hard and flung into low orbit, thanks to Esuna’s Celescarf he had little trouble traversing back into the earth’s gravity. Surtus runs toward the energy reading which was located on top of a plateau. To conserve energy he transformed using his sister’s Crystal. He then assaulted the foe with a blur of punches & kicks with most of them dealing damage as the outer shell broke off & attacked Surtus. He noticed that it was slowly learning the Tusjiro Style. At this point it would be smart to go full power but not use his Zulement of Time. Now using both Crystals, he unleashed another assault, but withing a few minutes it was on his level once more. With this he knew he’d run out of Electricity soon. Activating his Zulement of Time every strike he landed increased his wisdom and mastery over the Tsujiro Style. Eventually, Sena found him but he was now Grandmaster Tsujiro—(Never completed)
Speculative End: Eventually, Sena found him but he was now Grandmaster Tsujiro, fighting with sister techniques and weapons and even that of the Mutorii twin. The creature could match his Elementz but not his Zulements. When it reached its limit, Surtus was able to defeat it. As Sena ran up to him, he knew this was the end but he was glad he was able to overcome the challenge. As Alex caught up, he manifested his Crystal and weapon as well as those of his sister and the Mutorii twins and handed them off. As Alex stared seriously, Sena held on to Surtus and asked him not to go and with the last of his energy he said, Hero’s never “game over”, I will find a way to “continue”. Until then stay strong in the face of adversity.” Then an immense surge of Electricty shot up from Surtus’s feet to his hair and into the sky. Once the flash was over all that was left of Surtus was a heavily crack statue of him which eventually broken down into chunks. After paying respect Alex & Sena regrouped with each other where it was decided that Sena would now wield Surtus’s/Drenee’s Crystal/weapon & Alex would wield both Surtus & Drayne’s Crystal’s/weapons. These would now be stack atop there fallen siblings Crystals/weapons.
Alex:
Realizing his fate. Alex was determined to beat the Shaoxian that counters him with using all of his life energy. With only him and Sena left, he knew he couldn’t die before finding a way to bring his friends back. Once confronted Alex transformed and readied himself. Like his allies previous fights, the creature forces him to use his Zulement over Dreams. He manifested items from his Dreams to defeat the creature. He was a bit exhausted but showed no sign of his life being in danger. Later that evening, he and Sena talked but he fell into a deep sleep halfway through but she woke him up telepathically. As the stars filled the sky, they were reminded of their siblings before heading home. That was the last time Sena saw or spoke to Alex.
Sena:
Shortly after Alex’s death, Sena realized she was alone again. She confronted what remained of Derrukeru’s/Deroark’s(v4) team and explained the situation. They prepared for the worst thinking they had an endless amount of those creatures. They agreed to work together to ensure the safety of the planet. She meditated for days, getting visits from both UFELL and the Shao Elites. Through meditation, she finally used her OmniMystic, though she couldn’t explain it, her seven fallen allies spoke to her and infuse their power into her. She knew what she had to do. Now transitioning into a Guardianess, Deru’s/Dero’s team watched over Sena for as long as they could, but in the midst of the night, she was confronted by their leader. In angry she used her sister’s Celescarf to snare him and surged electricity through it. Sneering, he backed off and Sena had to fight 12 creatures(Ghost/Phantom infused with unisex .v3) as she utilized the Mutorii’s Elementz to connect more with her deceased allies while using her OmniMystica, she could not only shift between all of their Elementz, but their Zulements, weapons, skills and even clothes and personalities. This fight was overwhelming for Sena but each of her allies came forth in spirit to aid her. Even when she exhausted every ounce of her life energy, her friends kept her going. In the end, Deru & co. caught up to Sena, but it was too late. Sena was now devoid of color and completely grey, she explained the future of his team as the void spirits of her team floated behind her. She collapsed to her knees & said:
“No matter Whatever you do, they can win the battles, but they may win the war. Remember, you can’t let them gain access to Ludistradoss. If we all die they win. One of you must voe not to waste you life energy until he returns. Thank you for your help but now my sorrow ends. Good Luck…”
Then before she could fully collapse, she dissapated into the atmosphere. Her Crystal shattered as it was surrounded by her allies dim shattered Crystals as they all began to fade away/soon follow after Sena. And with that, the Heroes were no more.
As stated before, we didnt get about to around to Deru’s teams but they were at least planned to also die which is somewhat foreshadowed by Sena when she states “One of you must survive until he returns.” The one is naturally Ryon but we don’t know what we would have had planned at that point, perhaps he would return as a Guardian after briefly training on his home planet of Vyneon with a less amnesiac Nate. This would be true of the others. Eventually the Rivals would also transcend to the title of Zuardian follow the same methods after their death.
As for as the plot is concerned, we didn’t have anything plan outside of overwhelming and defeating the Shao with the help of their parents and since this was to be a much later season, we essentially had no ideas about what was to follow nor did we have a good idea of the season(s) building up to this point. This is seen in the inconsistentcy of the handing of the torch regarding the Heroes death and the fate of their Crystal/weapon. If felt more convoluted as more of them died or was an idea we seem to add later on throughout the brainstorming.
To end, were glad we came across Bokurano as we wanted to add actual consequence to the protagonist despite their eventual revival. To us at the time, we felt like this added some more well… realism.
